ロッキーラクーン

ビートルズの通称「ホワイトアルバム」に「ロッキーラクーン」という曲があります。ビートルズ唯一の？西部劇仕立てでストーリーのある曲で私は好きなのですが、先日この曲のクレイアニメをYouTubeで見つけて可愛かったのでご紹介。オープニングは「荒野の七人」です。
下の訳は、私が西部劇映画をイメージしながら訳してみました。西部っぽさ、出てるかなぁ…（でもエスプリがイギリスっぽいのよね…というかポールテイスト？）

「Rocky Raccoon」
ダコタの黒々とした山地のあるところにロッキー・ラクーンという若者がいた
ある日、彼の女が別の男のもとへ行ってしまい大ショック
若いロッキーはこう言った「あいつをやっつけてやる」
そこで彼はある日その町へ出かけ、宿をとった
その部屋にはギデオン協会の聖書が一冊あるだけ
ロッキーは宿敵の足をぶち抜くための銃を腰につけた
あいつはオレの素敵な彼女を奪って、夢をぶち壊した
彼女の名前はマギル　自分ではリルと呼び、皆はナンシーと呼んでいた
宿敵の名前はダン、マギルとダンは隣の部屋でホーダウン・ダンス中
ロッキーは部屋に踏み込みニヤリと笑った　
「さぁダニー・ボーイ、決着の時だ」
ところがホットなダニエルは素早く銃を抜き、ロッキーは部屋の隅に倒れた
ジンのニオイをプンプンさせた医者がやって来てテーブルに突っ伏して
「ロッキー、なかなかの決闘だったね」と言った
ロッキーは言った
「ドク、こんなのかすり傷だよ。すぐにでもよくなるよ、すぐにでもね、ドク」
ロッキーはフラフラになりながら、ギデオン協会の聖書のある部屋に戻った
ギデオンがチェックアウトする時に置いていったのだろう
善良なロッキーの復活のために

Now somewhere in the black mountain hills of Dakota
There lived a young boy named Rocky Raccoon
And one day his woman ran off with another guy
Hit young Rocky in the eye,
Rocky didn't like that He said, "I'm gonna get that boy"
So one day he walked into town Booked himself a room in a local saloon
Rocky Raccoon checked into his room Only to find Gideon's Bible
Rocky had come equipped with a gun To shoot off the legs of his rival
His rival it seems had broken his dream By stealing the girl of his fancy
Her name was Magill and she called herself Lil
But everyone knew her as Nancy
Now she and her man who calles himself Dan
Were in the next room at the hoedown
Rocky burst in and grinning a grin He said,
"Danny boy, this is a showdown"
But Danel was hot, he drew first and shot
And Rocky collapsed in the corner
Now the doctor came in stinking of gin
And prceeded to lie on the table
He said, "Rocky, you met your match" And Rocky said,
"Doc, it's only a scrathch And I'll be better,
I'll be better Doc, as soon as I am able"
And now Rocky Raccoon, he fell back in his room
Only to find Gideon's Bible
Gideon checked out and hi left it no doubt
To help with good Rocky's revival
